About this Event

Come socialize and sign the petitions for these important measures!

You are cordially invited to our “Sip and Sign” in support of four important petitions are being circulated in Arkansas on ballot measures that need your John Hancock!

  • Abortion Amendment - would permit abortions within 18 weeks of fertilization or in cases of rape, incest, fatal fetal anomalies or “to protect a pregnant female’s life or to protect a pregnant female from a physical disorder, physical illness, or physical injury.”
  • Freedom of Information Act - strengthening access to public records and meetings
  • Removing “Pink tax” - A proposal to exempt period products and diapers from local and state sales tax
  • ForArKids - proposes that the state expand its obligation to maintain a “general, suitable, and efficient system of free public schools” to include universal access to pre-K and afterschool and summer programs, assistance to children who are within 200% of the federal poverty line and support services for students with disabilities’ individualized needs. To kick off our efforts to gather required signatures for these important measures, the Dem Club is holding a “Sip and Sign” happy hour:

Where: Dolce Vita Ristorante, 111 Ponderosa Lane  (restaurant is closed to the public)

When: Sunday, March 3

Time:    4-7 p.m.

This is a come and go event where you’ll have the opportunity to read and sign these four petitions and, at the same time, socialize with your fellow Democrats. No need to RSVP – just drop in anytime between 4 – 7 p.m. and stay as long as you want.  Finger food will be provided and Bruno’s the bar will be open for you to purchase your drink of choice. You’ll have the opportunity to read and sign these four petitions and, at the same time, socialize with your fellow Democrats.

Only registered voters are eligible to sign the petitions. To expedite the signature process, we’re asking you to visit  https://www.voterview.ar-nova.org/voterview/, pull up your registration and make a screen shot on your phone before the event. If you’re unable to complete the process, we will have volunteers on site who will assist.

Team Leads and Arkansas Notaries needed Two of the petitions have leads to organize local efforts, but we need two more people to step and coordinate the other two efforts. Zoom training is available for volunteers and leads – to sign up for a Zoom session, go here: https://forms.gle/QaZsRFDPrGdD22aF8  Are you a Notary in the state of Arkansas? If so, we could use your help.    For more information becoming a lead or our Notary needs, email Serena Gonzales at itsg2bq@gmail.com. Arkansas deserves better and we hope you’ll join us on our mission to make our state better for all.
